Van Eck power station
The Van Eck power station is the only coal-fired power station in Namibia. It is a sub-critical plant and initially had no emission controls. In 2014, it consumed approximately 570kg of coal per MWh of electricity generated. As of 2021, it consumes approximately 650kg of coal per MWh of electricity generated.

The Diaz Wind Power Station, is a 44 MW (59,000 hp) power plant under construction in Namibia. The power station is under development and is owned by Diaz Wind Power, a joint venture company owned by (a) United Africa Group and (b) Quantum Power.

NamPower has four power stations: Ruacana - Hydro - 330 MW; Van Eck - Coal - 120MW; Paratus - Diesel - 16 MW; ANIXAS - Diesel - 22 MW; Currently, Namibia imports most of its electricity from South Africa and other countries in the region.

NamPower
NamPower ( SWAWEK) actually started at VAN ECK POWER STATION. When it was built in the early seventies the first power was distributed from this Power Station and all distribution lines were connected to the 66 and 220 kV High Voltage Yards.
