St. Helena, Wind-Diesel Hybrid Project

The St. Helena project started in or around 2000 when three Lagerwey 18/80 turbines were installed on the island. In 2009 WES increased the number of turbines to a total of six by adding three WES80 80kW turbines. In 2014 another six turbines doubled the wind capacity on the island of St. Helena to twelve wind turbines.

In April 2018 the Government of St Helena announced it had chosen a supplier to provide a renewable energy solution for St Helena, aiming for 100% renewable electricity by 2027. After lengthy contract negotiations it was announced on 29 th May 2020 that an agreement had been signed with PASH Global .
